The reason why we recommend the original cartridges in this case (even though our Premium House Brand version offers the same quality prints) is that you have probably given HP permission to block compatible cartridges WITHOUT KNOWING IT.

When you downloaded the driver (software on your computer that controls the printer) for your printer you were asked if you wanted 'automatic updates'... for free... so yeah... everyone agrees. This gives HP permission to download 'updates' that will block non-HP cartridges.

If you are interested in saving significantly on printing, below you will find instructions on how to disable automatic updates in a few steps. We have the compatible version in stock in our store and can ship it to you if needed.

1. Open the HP Smart application on your computer.
2. Click the “Maintain Printer” button and select your printer.
3. Click on "Printer Settings" and then on "Advanced Settings".
4. Look for the “Automatic firmware updates” option and disable it.
